First ever shot of DR NOKI on Gisle - 1998 - iD - shot by David Sims

I realised when writing about SKIN wears DR NOKI that i touched on a special little thing when i mentioned that the first person to shoot a DR NOKI design was David Sims. What an amazing start!! This post goes to that moment. JJ ( DR NOKI) dug the image out and here it is - a young Gisele wearing a washed out pink tee called the championF recked from the Pinial Eye - RIP, by stylist Anna Cockburn for 1998 i-D.

SKUNK ANANSIE TOUR

I used to be obsessed with SKUNK ANANSIE as a kid so being Skin's stylist is without a doubt one of the best parts of my job. As the band reform and go on a mamouth European Tour I am privaliged to be creating Skin's stage aesthetic for the tour. I decided to title this tour 'HIPHOP TRANSFORMERS' (see my moodboard above) and have been and will continue to pull in my favourite designers to create Skin one off stage and tour pieces. Please see individual shout outs to all the designers who have and are working with us on this. Thank you all for your hard work. Visit the website to see tour dates etc............SKUNK ANANSIE.

Craig's jacket on stage

Part of the NEW GEN squad Craig Lawrence has quickly gained the reputation as one of London's most exciting young knitwear designers. His choice of materials are always as weird and wonderful as his actual designs making each creation a piece of art. Craig has made me many pieces for SKIN as they have such amazing show/ stage presence. Thank you Craig.

SKIN WEARS KEKO HAINSWHEELER

Skin and Keko

Keko and I have been planning to work together for a very long time and it has certainly be worth the wait. Keko is one of London's hottest designers and is in more demand than ever with his work constantly appearing on the pages of Vogue Homme Japan, V, Dazed and Confused, i-D and POP. I really appreciate him taking the time to create some amazing hoods for Skin's tour. The hood above (sorry pics are not great) has the most amazing large printed sequins with an enormous feather mohawk. There are more pieces on the way so stay tuned. Thanks Keko.

SKIN WEARS DR NOKI

DR NOKI is one of Britain's greatest Sustainable Artists - transforming his thoughts onto canvas his work was first shot by David Sims on Gisele and has since featured in all the top magazines, as well as trotting down the catwalk during LFW as part of Fashion East. His new collection can be seen exclusively at a brand new store 123, launching 8th July and LOVEBOX have invited him to showcase his collection on the catwalk (never done before) this summer hours before Grace Jones performs, which i get to style - SICK!

For the SKUNK TOUR Skin got some caps customised, loads of tops, jackets and shirts to wear for the smaller gigs and interviews and a hood made for stage. Skin kindly modeled for me at the first DR NOKI Fashion East show so it is very special for me to all still be working together on projects like this. Thank you JJ ( DR NOKI).

DR NOKI's 1st Fashion Show / Art Installation

With LOVEBOX slowly creeping up on us and DR NOKI'S catwalk show on the Sunday eve, main stage (yes where Grace Jones will be performing), not far away i got sent these amazing images taken by the truly talented photographer Laurence Passera back in 1999 at DR NOKI's 1st ever Fashion Show / Art Installation at Brick Lane Music Hall, Curtain Road, styled by Sally O'Sullivan.

It is fascinating for me to see these real moments in history and see how far DR Noki, an outstanding Artist, has come in just over a decade. With a whole bunch of new material here is to focusing on a SICK catwalk show at LOVEBOX and bring on London Fashion Week!!

CHARLES YOUSSEF - DAZED DIGITAL

Central Saint Martins always produce some of the most exciting new designers who go on to grace LFW and keep the fashion industry alive with innovative, hungry and ambitious designs. Past MA graduates include Mark Fast, Mary Katrantzou, Louise Gray and most recently Michael Van Der Ham and David Koma.
This year the MA class of 2010 is no exception with many great new talents on the horizon. One particular Womenswear designer really stood out to me, Charles Youssef. It was a great pleasure to meet Charles, interview him and shoot his MA collection for a special designer feature for Dazed Digital, shot by the amazing photographer Thomas Cooksey with an incredible new face Nastasia at NEXT. BLANDINE BARDEAU

At the tender age of 24 Blandine has not long graduated from the presitious CSM with a fun, bold Womenswear collection. Now working in London as a Designer, Illustrator and Jewellery designer her work has just appeared in Selfridges window and most recently Beyond the Valley with a collection titled 'Fluorescent Monkeys'. 'Fluorescent Monkeys' concentrates on Blandines love for drawing with many of her illustrations translated onto clothing available to buy now at Beyond the Valley. I managed to grab Blandine for a quick question.

Since graduating your work has just appeared in Selfridges windows and most recently Beyond the Valley with the première of ‘Fluorescent Monkeys’ can you tell us about this?

Blandine Bardeau - Well Selfridges found me! As extraordinary as it sounds. They went onto Style Bubble and read the article she wrote about me....
Thank you Susie! Well I started selling at Beyond the Valley in September 2009. They saw my graduate exhibition and suggested to turn my dress into a jewellery collection. I thought it was a great idea and went for it. Then somehow the idea of the exhibition came about when showing my drawings. They have given me a very special opportunity and it allows me to show more that just my fashion, which is essential for me because without the drawings, there is no fashion.' Fluorescent Monkeys' is the continuation of the story about Transformations that is my graduate collection. I wanted to give those creatures of mine, the 'Fluorescent Monkeys' (and the other funky chickens), a place to live, to exist. They now inhabit the plastic tubes of my jewellery pieces...

JAMES LONG A/W10

James Long is one of my favourite Menswear London Designers so i love helping his stylist Bryan McMahon with his show during LFW and catching a sneaky preview. James' A/W10 collection is all based on 'BOILER ROOM BOYS' and James kindly let me photograph his moodboard and sketches, below. With a strong colour palette of Navy, Black, Gray and Red the collection's compact 15 looks mix fine luxurious leathers, padded and structured at the knees, with thick knits, sheers, velvet corduroy and red abstract paint marks printed onto navy denim and cotton. The hair was pulled off the face with thin headbands and the silhouettes changed from long, oversized jumpers and cardigans to short jackets with large lapels to bold boiler suits and fitted trousers.
